CTOlabs.com to Conduct Study within Federal Agencies on Current Strategies for Managing Backup and Recovery

Home » Announcements » Announcements » CTOlabs.com to Conduct Study within Federal Agencies on Current Strategies for Managing Backup and Recovery

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 17, 2010

CTOlabs.com, provider of innovative research, evaluations and technology concepts, announced it is conducting a study on the impact of data growth and government best practices to protect, manage and replicate mission critical data.

Federal enterprise technologists, systems integrators and architects may participate in this study by visiting:http://ddsurvey.ctolabs.com.

With ever-growing volumes of data, strict service level agreements, compliance regulations, and new backup challenges created by the transition to virtualized server environments, many agencies are discovering that their data protection strategies must evolve to deliver greater efficiencies. The oft-cited value of an effective backup strategy with data deduplication stems from lowering storage, management, energy and capacity costs. Reducing backup capacity requirements by up to 98%, accelerating recoveries and efficiently replicating data makes data deduplication an essential technologies for government agencies seeking to maximize return on their IT investments.

The purpose of this survey is to seek actionable insights to provide the Federal IT community with information regarding backup and recovery with data deduplication best practices. Survey results and analysis will be made publicly available as a service to the community at the beginning of 2011.

“We believe the time is right for this research to be utilized within the Federal ecosystem, as data requirements explode and the government is under increased scrutiny to protect its data while adhering to increased cost containment,” stated Bob Gourley, CTO and primary investigator for CTOlabs. “We believe the results will provide unique insight into backup and recovery best practices, including how data deduplication is impacting user initiatives. With data center consolidation, migration to virtualized environments and cloud computing discussions rising to the top of agency agendas, it is imperative to bring solutions to the forefront and cross pollinate best practices and real world user experiences within the federal community. This study is intended to deliver against that goal.”

Qualified agency personnel interested in participating in this research or acquiring final results, please contact Bob Gourley, (703) 565-2811; contact(at)crucialpointllc(dot)com.
